Minneapolis police discovered an infant in distress inside a stolen U-Haul containing dangerous drugs during a mid-February traffic stop near East Hennepin Avenue and 25th Avenue.
Officers found the baby unsecured in a car seat with drug paraphernalia within reach. Shortly after being taken to the hospital, the child became unresponsive but was stabilized by doctors. The infant is now in the care of grandparents and recovering.
This incident mirrors another recent case in Minneapolis, where officers responded to an unresponsive baby who had to be revived with Narcan. Upon returning to the home, police found a second infant in distress.
Authorities warn of the growing risk of accidental poisoning among children. In Minnesota, 35% of poisoning cases in 2023 involved children under age six, highlighting the ongoing dangers of drug exposure.
