A pop-up party in Houston turned deadly Saturday night, leaving two teens dead and three others wounded, including a 13-year-old girl now fighting for her life.
The chaotic scene unfolded around 11:20 p.m. when police arrived at a makeshift club to find panicked crowds spilling into the streets. Inside, a 16-year-old boy lay dead, while a 16-year-old girl succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. Among the wounded were a 13-year-old girl in critical condition and a 19-year-old woman who drove herself to the hospital.
“This was a party filled with juveniles, and it ended in tragedy,” said Assistant Chief Luis Menendez-Sierra. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as they continue the investigation, with no suspects currently in custody.
Officials warn that unsanctioned pop-up parties, often organized through social media, are becoming a dangerous trend. “These makeshift events are unregulated and often lead to chaos and violence,” said Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
Police are advising teens to steer clear of these gatherings as the community reels from the senseless loss of young lives.
