Minnesota Slammed by Major Winter Storm, Snow Totals Climb

Minnesota is battling its most intense winter storm of the season, with heavy snow blanketing the state. A winter storm warning is in effect, covering areas from the North Dakota border to Rochester, including the Twin Cities.

Snowfall has been relentless through the morning but is expected to taper off by evening. Early snow totals show significant accumulation across the state:

  • Minneapolis: 4.2 inches (as of 9 a.m.)
  • Shoreview: 4.5 inches
  • Vadnais Heights: 6 inches
  • Northfield: 7.2 inches (state’s highest so far)

Southern regions, like Owatonna, have seen lower totals around 3.5 inches, while northern areas, such as Brainerd, recorded just 1.2 inches. Central Minnesota and parts of western Wisconsin also report varied amounts, with totals ranging from 1 to 3.5 inches.

The storm has caused widespread disruptions, including school closures, hazardous roads, and flight delays at MSP Airport. As the storm diminishes, Minnesotans brace for clean-up and clearer skies ahead.
