The Mega Millions frenzy continues as the jackpot skyrockets to an estimated $825 million for Friday’s drawing, making it the largest December prize ever and the seventh largest in Mega Millions history.

The jackpot has been climbing since September 10, when a Texas ticket claimed $810 million. Tuesday’s drawing didn’t produce a jackpot winner, but it did create several millionaires. Five lucky tickets hit the five white ball numbers for $1 million prizes in California, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. A ticket in North Carolina, enhanced by the 4X Megaplier, earned a massive $4 million.

This year has seen only three jackpot wins, including a staggering $1.1 billion prize sold in New Jersey in March—still unclaimed. The record-breaking Mega Millions jackpot remains $1.6 billion, claimed in Florida in August 2023.

Friday’s drawing could change everything. The winning numbers will be revealed at 11 p.m. ET. Will the jackpot finally find its owner?

Players dreaming of a win can choose between a 30-year annuity or a lump sum payout, typically half the jackpot’s total. Remember, even matching the five white ball numbers earns at least $1 million, so it’s worth checking your tickets.
