Toronto, Feb. 17, 2025 – A Delta Air Lines jet overturned upon landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport this afternoon, leading to a temporary ground stop and the cancellation of all Delta flights in and out of the airport for the evening. Officials reported that all 80 people aboard the aircraft—76 passengers and four crew members—were safely evacuated, with no fatalities and only minor injuries sustained by 17 individuals.

Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, assisting passengers out of the overturned aircraft and providing medical attention. While most injuries were minor, two passengers were airlifted to nearby trauma centers, and a child was taken to a pediatric hospital for evaluation.

The flight, Delta Connection 4819, had departed from Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport and was operated by Endeavor Air using a CRJ900 aircraft. Weather conditions at the time of the incident included strong winds and cold temperatures, with gusts up to 40 mph. However, no immediate cause for the crash has been confirmed.

Eyewitness accounts described a shocking scene as passengers exited the upside-down plane. A video shared on social media captured the moment passengers were led away from the aircraft, with one traveler stating, “Most people appear to be OK.”

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has launched an investigation into the incident. In the meantime, Toronto Pearson Airport has resumed departures and arrivals, although delays persist. Delta has issued a travel waiver for affected customers and is working to accommodate those impacted by cancellations.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz confirmed he is in communication with Delta and expressed gratitude for the emergency responders’ swift actions. Further updates on the investigation and flight operations are expected in the coming days.
