A shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin, left a teacher and a teenage student dead and six others wounded on Monday. Police identified 15-year-old “Samantha” Rupnow as the suspected shooter, stating she died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A second-grade student reportedly called 911 to report the incident.
Police Chief Shon Barnes confirmed Rupnow’s father is cooperating with the investigation, and two students remain hospitalized in critical condition. Four others—three students and a teacher—received non-life-threatening injuries. Their identities have not been released.
The school, which serves around 200 students, did not have metal detectors or a resource officer on-site. Following the shooting, students were reunited with their families. Both President Biden and Vice President Harris spoke with state and local officials, offering condolences and federal assistance. The FBI is collaborating with local authorities on the ongoing investigation.
