Daycare Teacher Fired After Videos Show Mistreatment of Children in Plymouth
Plymouth, Minn. – A daycare teacher and several other employees at Lil’ Explorers Childcare Center in Plymouth were fired after disturbing videos surfaced online, showing the teacher screaming at and forcefully handling young children. Authorities have since launched an investigation into the incident.
The videos, recorded secretly by a former assistant teacher, captured multiple instances of aggressive behavior toward children as young as 2 and 3 years old. In one clip, the teacher is seen yelling at the children and forcefully placing a child into a chair before pushing it into a desk. The assistant teacher who recorded the footage resigned the same day.
Following the video’s release, Plymouth police confirmed that an investigation is underway. Parents and former employees have expressed outrage over the incident, with some calling for the daycare center to be shut down. One parent shared that their child began mimicking the abusive behavior with toys at home, raising further concerns about the daycare environment.
Lil’ Explorers Childcare Center issued a statement on Friday, emphasizing that the safety and well-being of the children are their top priorities. The daycare confirmed that the employees involved were fired and that an internal investigation has been launched. The center also assured parents that they are cooperating fully with authorities and adhering to state-mandated safety regulations and reporting procedures.
However, state records reveal that the Plymouth location of Lil’ Explorers Childcare Center has been investigated and cited three times in 2024, including two citations related to child discipline practices. This history raises further concerns among parents regarding the center’s ability to maintain a safe and nurturing environment.
Both the daycare and local authorities are continuing their investigations. Parents and community members await further updates as officials work to determine the next steps in addressing the issue.
